I’m back with more inspiration from the special Jenoblade release. Did you see the wonderful inspiration from the rest of the design team? Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more. Today’s sample juxtaposes a mixed media background with these adorable, smiling cacti.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
- Create the background on white, heavyweight cardstock.
- Ink smoosh water reactive inks in red, orange and brown. Dry between layers and keep adding texture in the form of ink droplets and water until you are happy.
- Once dry, use brown archival ink to stamp the Romantic Script background. Do not cover the stamp with ink and use a cloth to smudge off some before stamping on the panel.
- Using the Distressed Patterns stamp, stamp more texture with red and orange dye inks on top of the script text.
- Stencil crackle paste through the English Brick Wall stencil. This does not have to be perfect as you can going for grunge. Set the panel aside to dry completely. Crackle paste won’t work if you speed up the drying with a heat gun. Because I stamped in water reactive ink, you will see the crackle paste absorb some of the color behind it.
- Splatter the panel with white paint.
- Use brown and black archival ink and stamp on top of the bricks. Stamp several stamps for additional texture from the First Class Friend stamp set.
- Stamp and copic color several images from JB Stuck Together. Die cut with the coordinating die-namics. Add foam tape behind the images.
- For more texture, die cut the Crosshatch Die-namics from white cardstock and snip portions away to tuck under the cacti.
- To ground the plants, cut a strip of Kraft and add brown ink for a little depth.
- Stamp the sentiment in black ink and distress the sentiment strip with scissors. Also, add some ink blending using a leftover piece of the Crosshatch die for a pseudo stencil. Run the edges in brown dye ink.
- Adhere the card together. Add crystal glaze over the flowers and the heart for a final touch.

I love how this grungy, textured background came out. Hope you’ve been inspired to check out this special release!
